Shadow of the Tomb Raider has been announced with a September release date.
The third part in Square Enix’s rebooted Tomb Raider series has been given a September 14 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Described as Lara Croft’s defining moment, it will be unveiled in full on April 27.
The only bad news is that there’s no mention of a Nintendo Switch release.
The Square Enix announcement only mentions PS4, Xbox One and PC, while the Nintendo logo is also absent from the trailer.
On the plus side, PS4 users won’t have to wait a year for a port to release.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive on Xbox One, before launching on PS4 a year later.
Xbox One X support is also confirmed, which means PS4 Pro capabilities are sure to follow.
In the meantime, fans can check out the Shadow of the Tomb Raider announcement trailer (below).
The cinematic trailer shows Lara running, jumping, climbing and sliding through the undergrowth.
It ends with Lara emerging before the Mayan pyramids, giving fans the first clue about where the game is set.
Fans can find out more about the game by visiting the Shadow of the Tomb Raider website.
The website features the official trailer, as well as mysterious puzzles that will appear later today.
Fans who solve the puzzles will have a chance to play the game early and meet the developers at the reveal event.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s announcement comes just days after the launch of the new film.
Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft, alongside Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas.
