Seth Meyers hasn’t been known to hold back his feelings about President Trump, but he was especially candid during Late Night‘s newest “Closer Look” segment.
This time, Meyers zeroed in on Trump’s poor response to the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, beginning the piece by saying, “We are witnessing once again the very real consequences of electing a lazy, ignorant racist as president.”
After critiquing POTUS for jetting off to his golf club on the same weekend that San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz pleaded for aid from the federal government, Meyers then turned to the president’s false tweet that “all buildings” in Puerto Rico had been inspected for safety.
“You know, it’s not fair of us to keep harping on the fact that Trump is dumb and lazy,” Meyers said. “Let’s not forget he’s also a liar, and any Trump crisis would not be complete without a bizarre and unnecessary lie fabricated out of whole cloth.”
But it wasn’t just the host who dressed Trump down for his failure to help Puerto Rico; Late Night writer Jenny Hagel, who is Puerto Rican, also contributed (with insults in Spanish!) to the 11-minute segment.
