In the wake of the photos, Seann’s then-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries issued a statement where she announced she had broken up with the Strictly Come Dancing hopeful.
Zoe Ball asked the pair about what had happened following the publishing of the pictures and Rebecca’s statement.
Seann became visibly overwhelmed on the BBC Two show as he struggled to choke back tears as his voice wobbled.
“First of all I would rather not be having to address this publicly but I feel like I have to,” he began.
“I made a mistake which I am very sorry for, I’m sorry for the hurt I caused, you never think about he extent of the damage you are going to do in the mistake that you made.
“I am not perfect, far from it. Our relationship wasn’t perfect, that doesn’t mean I wanted it to end the way it finally did,” he continued.
“I am very sorry for that. It is also important for me to say, the people who know me the most, who love me, know I am not the person I am being portrayed as.
“I’m still sorry for what I did but its very important for me to get that out there.”
Addressing the kissing incident, Rebecca posted to her 28,700 Twitter followers: “I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink.
“We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on.”
She added: “Despite everything, I hope he gets what he wants from this. I’m not sorry I took the cat.”
Katya, who is married to fellow professional dancer Neil Jones, extended her apologies on the programme.
She told host Zoe: “I apologise to everyone it hurt and it involved.
“But the main thing for me, is me and Neil are fine.
“I’m focussing on my job and doing it as a professionally as I can.”
Katya and Seann both issued separate apologies last Sunday.
Katya told her 53,000 Twitter followers: “I’m so sorry about any offence or hurt I may have caused with my actions. I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks.
“I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship,” she added.
While Seann wrote to his 106,000 followers: “In light of the story in today’s newspaper I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions.
“This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
