James Martin’s replacement told viewers at home he was sorry for the “bad language” which came during Mich Turner’s cake segment.
As the food scientist finished off her show-stopping creation, it soon became apparent she had run out of fluffy white meringue.
Looking around to see if there was any leftover, it seemed as though co-star Tom Kitchin exclaimed, ‘Oh s**t’, despite it not even being his recipe.
As soon as the camera cut back to Matt, 43, he commented: “All sincere apologies for the bad language just then, big apologies.”
Many amused fans took to Twitter to comment on the gaffe, with one writing: “Did Tom Kitchin just give it, ‘oh s**t’ on #SaturdayKitchen?”
Two others continued: “Swearing on #SaturdayKitchen… The world’s gone mad,” and: “Just rewound to find it, Tom Kitchin ‘oh shit’ when they ran out of meringue. Worth a swear that, what a crisis! #SaturdayKitchen.”(sic)
However, others were left a little confused and only become aware of the swearing after Matt pointed it out on the BBC programme.
Two further posts read: “What bad language? Missed that bit of excitement #SaturdayKitchen,” as well as: “Where was the swear? And, why apologise this is real life #SaturdayKitchen.”(sic)
Meanwhile, fellow guest and ethnobotanist, James Wong, won praise from many online for admitting his dislike of coriander, claiming it can be genetic.
Saturday Kitchen continues next weekend at 10am on BBC One.
