Sarah Ferguson: Fergie will be 'on hand' for Princess Eugenie wedding after royal comeback

Sarah Ferguson, 58, also known as Fergie, is a former member of the royal family, as the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, 58. But will the wedding of her daughter Princess Eugenie, 28, put her back in the public eye?

The Duchess of York took a step back from the spotlight in 1996, after her divorce to Prince Andrew following her ‘toe sucking’ affair scandal.

However, Sarah made a royal comeback after she attended the royal wedding of her nephew, Prince Harry, 33, to Meghan Markle, 36.

She will continue to be “on hand” to assist her daughter and will “remain” in the public eye, a former royal butler has claimed.

“I am sure that as with all mothers of the bride, Sarah Duchess of York will be assisting her daughter with all aspects of the wedding especially when it comes to picking the wedding dress,” said Grant Harold, former royal butler.

He added: “This is an important time for any bride and I have no doubt Princess Eugenie will be getting guidance from her mother while planning this special day.”

What’s more, Sarah may be “on hand” more if and when Eugenie begins to start a family.

Grant said: “As her daughter begins to settle down, perhaps the Duchess will be on hand especially when the couple begin a family.”

Sarah has been increasingly in the public eye in recent years, attending Ascot in the Royal Box alongside ex husband Prince Andrew last summer.

Only last week, she attended an event at St. James Palace for the Evening Standard’s Oscar’s Book Prize 2018.

It is also believed Sarah still lives with Prince Andrew at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Grant said: “The Duchess has always had a good relationship with the Royal family,

“Let’s not forget her two daughters are senior members of the Royal family.”

He also spoke of the significance of Sarah Ferguson’s royal wedding invitation. She was famously not invited to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 2011 wedding.

He said: “The fact the Duchess was invited to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding only goes to show the close relationship she has with members of the Royal family as well as her nephews.

“It was a joy to see that all the family where there and long may this continue.”

Yesterday, Sarah introduced her “alter ego” on her Instagram account in a revealing post.

The Duchess of York posted a picture of a rag-doll with bright red hair to match Sarah’s own famous flaming locks.

She captioned the post “Welcome to @instagram @littlereddoll1 #littlered”, linking to a newly created Instagram account for Little Red Doll bearing the same image.

So what is the significance of this doll, which bears a striking resemblance to Sarah herself?

It is a special edition collectible Raggedy Ann doll said to be Sarah’s “alter ego”, explains the Raggedy Ann website.
