Royal wedding: Who is designing Meghan’s wedding dress? Is it a British designer?

The royal wedding is just weeks away, and the wedding dress has been kept under wraps.

It has since been revealed that the designer of the dress with be British designer Ralph & Russo.

Meghan wore the brand for the famous engagement shoot with Prince Harry after announcing they were getting married.

The dress, costing £56,000, featured a sheer bodice and floor length skirt in the stylish black and white photo.

But what will her dress for the wedding be like and how much will it cost?

An insider has revealed to MailOnline that the dress will cost a whopping £100,000.

It will be one of two dresses that she will wear on May 19 for the ceremony, similar to Kate Middleton who also had a different dress for the evening.

Other rumoured designers were Burberry, Erdem or Victoria Beckham, all British brands.

Meghan’s wedding dress is rumoured to be hand-stitched and heavily beaded, although shoulders will be covered as is expected in a church wedding.

The source explained: “It sounds a lot but this is the wedding of the year and hundreds of hours of manpower have gone into making it, almost all by hand.”

Prince Harry, whilst paying for the dress through the Royal Family, is thought to not know about the design as he follows tradition.

Recent news surrounding the wedding has revealed that Meghan’s parents will play a large part in the ceremony.

The 36-year-old will be joined by her mother in the car, and will be walked down the aisle by her father.

They are both due to fly to the UK a week before the wedding to meet the rest of the Royal Family before the wedding.

The Duchess of Cambridge is also attending, without newborn son Prince Louis, and Prince Philip is hopeful that he will join following his recovery from his recent hip operation.

Ralph & Russo, who were founded in 2010, became the first British brand in nearly 100 years to show their collection at Paris Haute Couture fashion wee in 2013.

That same year, they were also included on the Fortune ’40 under 40’.

Other celebrities to have worn them include Beyonce, who wore their designs during her tour, and Angelina Jolie, wearing a dress of theirs to meet the Queen.

In a previous interview with the Standard, Tamara Ralph, Creative Director, explained how a wedding dress can have as many as 3,900 hours of labour go into creating it.

Meghan’s engagement dress was from their Fall 2017 collection, yet her wedding dress will most likely be a one-off creation.
