Prince Harry: The Inside Story, a new book by Duncan Larcombe, has revealed how a joking remark by Prince William could give an insight into why Harry chose to settle down.
The publication, written by award-winning journalist and former royal editor of the Sun, has been updated with new chapters on the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship.
According to it, Prince William’s teasing of single Prince Harry could have been at the heart of why he chose to marry Suits actress Meghan Markle.
Prince William told Harry on the way back to Kensington Palace after the pair attended an official engagement with Kate Middleton something that is likely to have had an affect on Harry.
According to the book by the royal journalist, the eldest brother, 35, said: “You’re an official gooseberry.”
Harry laughed of the comments, however, it was a reference to the fact that Harry had been single for sometime, while his brother was happily married.
The author wrote: “In reality, William was spot on. Time and time again, Harry would appear by his brother and sister-in-law’s side as they attended events and posed for the camera.”
A source told Duncan Larcombe: “Although William would tease his brother for being single, and playing the role of gooseberry when he was official engagements with Kate, it was increasingly difficult for Harry.”
However, happily Prince Harry later met LA-born actress Meghan, in a love story well known to many Britons.
The couple dated secretly for around six months before news of the relationship became public.
Prince Harry and Meghan became engaged in October 2017.
