Crosbie appeared on the ITV show today to promote her new vampire movie Eat Local, but naturally the spotlight was swiftly turned to her classic series One Foot In The Grave.
After Richard, 61, took off his jacket to warm a shivering Crosbie, 83, up, their interview got off to a good start.
However, once Crosbie’s cult comedy, in which she starred as Meldrew’s long-suffering wife Margaret, came up, things took a sour turn.
While discussing Meldrew’s iconic catchphrase, Madeley couldn’t help himself from gasping: “I don’t believe it!” and Crosbie could barely even pretend to smile.
And the uncomfortable mishap didn’t go unnoticed by Good Morning Britain viewers who were in stitches over the painful encounter.
“Well that interview was a bit awkward.. Annette Crosbie looked like she’d rather be boiling her own head than being in the GMB studio!” teased one audience member, as another agreed: “@GMB cringe interview on #GMBtoday with Annette Crosbie….well done Richard Madeley!!!!”
A third chuckled: “Well that interview wasn’t at all awkward was it.”
“Annette Crosbie typical interview to promote a film , you could tell she didn’t want to be there … poor Richard!” gasped one more, which was followed by: “@GMB cringe interview on #GMBtoday with Annette Crosbie…well done Richard Madeley!!!!”
“This interview is sooooo awkward,” shrieked another.
The blunder came after Richard blew up at an unsuspecting guest earlier on the programme, accusing him of “playing games”.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
