Remember the Lidl prosecco deal? ASDA drop award-winning fizz to JUST £5 starting TODAY

It’s officially two months until Christmas today and this deal from Asda is set to send customers into a spin.

Asda has popped the cork on £5 prosecco. From today to Wednesday 1 November the supermarket will be selling its award-winning Yellow Label Prosecco for just £5.

But you’ll have to be quick as the deal is only running for seven days.

Remember, this isn’t just any prosecco: Asda’s Yellow Label Prosecco won Silver at the 2017 Decanter Awards and Bronze at the International Wine Challenge.

Asda has predicted a 100% sales uplift on a regular week during the deal, as Brits gear-up for the festive rush and search for the best deals to make the festive season that extra bit special.

Can’t make it into store? The deal is up for grabs nationwide and online for the entire seven days.

Britons’ thirst for sparkling wine continues to bubble over, with the nation drinking an extra 12.8 million litres this year.

The news comes after it was revealed a prosecco price war has seen the cost of sparkling fizz drop this year, new figures revealed today.

The average price for a bottle of prosecco has fallen by 23p to £6.76 this year.

But beer prices are up on average by 20p, wine has risen by 5p, spirits are up 6p and cider has increased by 4p.

The fall in fizz prices is most likely due to increased competition in the prosecco market, said experts.

Toby Magill, of market analysts IRI, said: “Demand for prosecco is still growing and the price is being eroded.

“Alternative sparkling wines like Asda’s Progrigio are coming in and because of the success of prosecco, it’s very difficult to sell at a higher price.”
