Red Dead Redemption 2: How long is the game? How long to finish Red Dead Redemption 2?

Red Dead Redemption 2 offers such a massive map that gamers will continue encountering fresh challenges for months, or potentially years. And with the imminent launch of the Red Dad Online multiplayer mode, the landscape is so vast that it has led gamers to ponder exactly how long it will take to complete Red Dead Redemption 2 single player mode.

Red Dead Redemption 2 contains eight chapters.

The first six of which comprise the game’s main campaign, while the final two form the RDR2’s epilogue.

All eight chapters feature a set number of individual missions – some chapters have as few as six and others as many as 19.

This tallies to 104 separate missions.

Each mission can last anywhere from minutes to hours to master.

This means the core game lasts approximately at least 35 hours to complete – and less experienced gamers will require a considerably longer time.

This ignores the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2’s beauty is the seemingly infinite number of side activities on offer.

These activities can all be enjoyed at players’ leisure, and many are compelling for gamers to forget the main campaign and occupy their time these ways.

These activities range from fishing, hunting gambling and robbing.

Those intent on completing the game while enjoying a reasonable amount diversions can therefore expect to enjoy between 40 to 50 hours of gameplay.

More realistically, gamers will take their time to perfect the missions, deep dive into side activities like hunting or fishing, and simply enjoy exploring the world without any real direction, potentially racking up to 100 hours or more.

Approximating the time it takes to 100 percent complete Red Dead Redemption 2 is harder to calculate.

Achieving a 100 percent completion in a Rockstar Games release is a daunting task.

Total completion requires players to complete the main campaign, track every collectible and explore the whole map.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will also expect players to hunt each of the 200 plus animals, catch every fish, complete all Strangers missions, all Bounties and complete the in-game Compendium.

It is therefore safe to assume at least 200 hours of dedicated gaming is needed to earn a 100 percent completion rating.
