Princess Eugenie shares emotional Instagram post about her difficult childhood illness

Princess Eugenie, 28, had a privileged upbringing, being a member of the Royal Family with the title of princess.

However, it didn’t stop her from suffering from one uncomfortable illness, scoliosis.

Taking to her Instagram account the bride-to-be uploaded a picture of her X-ray, hoping to raise awareness for the spinal disease.

Eugenie suffered from scoliosis before having it corrected by the insertion of metal rods.

The images show Eugenie’s curved spine and how it was set straight, which she shared with a heart-warming message.

One image shows the royal’s ring-adorned hands holding up an X-ray showing her spine, with the two metal rods very apparent.

She captioned the post: “Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day and I’m very proud to share my X Rays for the very first time.

“I also want to honour the incredible staff at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital who work tirelessly to save lives and make people better.

“They made me better and I am delighted to be their patron of the Redevelopment Appeal.

“To hear more of my story visit http://www.rnohcharity.org/the-appeal/princess-eugenie-s-story @the.rnoh.charity #TheRNOHCharity #RedevelopmentAppeal #RNOH #NHS”

Eugenie also shared a series of snaps of her visiting patients at the hospital, perched at the edge of a young patient’s hospital bed.

She was also snapped chatting with hospital staff members and surgeons, before talking about her struggle wth the illness.

Some of her 252,000 Instagram followers left comments praising the princess’ work, with one posting: “Thank you for supporting so many people in need.”

Another wrote: “Sending love and admiration to you for coming through all that and now supporting others. You are a lovely young lady.”

Helping to increase awareness of scoliosis and end people’s suffering, Eugenie is a patron leading the appeal for a new £15 million ward at the hospital in north London.

Showing her caring and personable side again this week, Eugenie visited her old school Marlborough College to open a new hall.

Commemorating lives of former pupils lost at the school during WWI, Eugenie unveiled the newly refurbished hall in front of teachers and pupils.

Sharing snaps of her day out to Marlborough, Eugenie captioned the post: “Such a lovely day going to see my old school, Marlborough College and opening the newly refurbished Memorial Hall, built to honour the 749 former pupils that lost their lives on the battlefield in WWI.

The photos showed her visiting the school grounds, posing with students, addressing the school from the assembly hall, beaming as she visited the art school and unveiling the plaque for the new hall.

To complement her striking red hair, the daughter of Sarah Ferguson, 58, and Prince Andrew, 58, wore a bright green dress.
