Princess Diana, the mother of Prince William, 35, and Prince Harry, 33, was a well-loved woman who died tragically in August 1997.
The stunning royal had a whole host of royal jewels, some of which were borrowed from the Royal Family, while others were private gifts.
Diana notably wore one stunning brooch, which she often styled as a necklace, the Prince of Wales Feathers brooch.
The Princess, who was very inventive with her jewellery, had an emerald cabochon drop added to the pretty piece.
An engagement gift from the Queen Mother, Prince Charles’ Grandmother, Diana wore the present on numerous occasions as nod to her husband.
She especially like to wear the brooch as a necklace with emerald and diamond earrings that Charles bought for her as a wedding gift.
On close inspection, the brooch has the three feathers, beautifully rendered in diamonds.
There are 18 brilliant-cut diamonds, and tiny emeralds and a ruby also appear on the stunning piece, which was originally a wedding gift to Queen Alexandra from the “Ladies of Bristol.”
It was then handed down to her daughter-in-law Queen Mary, then the Queen Mother.
Camilla Parker-Bowles, 70, has been seen wearing the gift to Diana on numerous occasions since she married Prince Charles, 69.
Camilla was first seen wearing the present one year after she married Charles at a movie premiere.
The Daily Mail stated at the time: “It is understood that the prince was particularly keen for his new bride to wear the brooch because of its association with successive Princes of Wales.”
When Diana divorced Charles the wedding present was taken back by the royal family, as it is an heirloom.
Britons can look forward to the day that Kate Middleton will wear the piece, as one day she will be the Princess of Wales.
Many will wonder what has become of the other stunning pieces of jewellery Princess Diana wore before her tragic death.
What happened to Princess Diana’s jewellery?
Princess Diana stated she would leave her jewellery to her sons, so that they could give them to their wives when they married.
Her ring from Charles became Kate Middleton’s engagement ring when she married Prince William, 35.
Her sapphire choker, originally a brooch, was a gift from the Queen Mother to Diana on her wedding day.
It is thought that diamond from the piece are the ones used for Prince Harry’s fiancee Meghan Markle’s engagement ring.
