Prince Charles, 69, and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, 70, celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary today, April 9, after marrying in 2005.
As the eldest son of Prince Philip, 96, and Queen Elizabeth II, 91, Prince Charles is the heir apparent to the British throne, and is expected to be King one day.
It is believed he is “100 per cent” committed to making the Duchess “Queen Camilla”, an insider has exclusively told Express.co.uk.
In fact, Charles’ decision to make Camilla – his second wife after the late Princess Diana – a Queen is said to be his “number one priority”.
But why did Camilla leave Prince Charles in Australia ahead of their wedding anniversary today?
It is believed she left their joint tour early because she “doesn’t want to take too much on”.
However, this does not stop Charles from wanting to give her the very important royal title of Queen.
“He definitely wants her to be Queen Camilla – her title will be Queen consort,” said the source.
It is believed official steps have taken place internally in the royal family to put this into place, including instructions to staff.
“He’s put on a piece of paper that it’s his number one priority,” the source continued.
“Senior palace staff have been instructed to make it happen.”
The revelation may come as a surprise to some, as Camilla was formerly expected to become Princess Consort if Charles took the throne.
A statement on the Clarence House website formerly read: “As was explained at the time of their wedding in April 2005, it is intended that The Duchess will be known as HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne.”
However, the sentence has now been removed following a redesign of the palace website further this year, fuelling speculation that Camilla’s future title may differ.
It seems that if Camilla does become Queen it will be controversial to some, as an Express poll found 67 per cent of Britons would not accept her as Queen.
To mark the royal couple’s wedding anniversary, a body language expert analysed Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ body language.
The expert analysed the pair based on footage from their recent joint appearance at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Judi James, body language expert, told Daily Star Online that Charles and Camilla were like “nervy kids at a student party”.
She said: “Charles and Camilla appeared at times anxious and reluctant and lacking in any youthful bounce that could imply keenness.
“Unlike the current royals and the younger royals they tend to have the effect of making you worried rather than happier.”
