But as the Good Morning Britain presenter interviewed the President of the United States, viewers at home were left distracted by the 71-year-old’s glass of water.
Donald Trump had a glass of water positioned on a table next to him, which was covered with a paper lid.
Many of those tuning into the interview, which aired on ITV on tonight, were left baffled by the president drinking habits.
Viewers took to Twitter to question why he had chosen to cover his glass with the coaster.
“Anyone else distracted by the glass of water with the little paper lid on it?” one person asked.
While another added: “@piersmorgan, can you answer the question on everyone’s lips… What’s the deal with the lid on the glass of water?”
A third continued: “If there’s one thing more annoying than this entire #TrumpMorgan interview – it’s that paper f**king lid on the glass of water. Drink it you d**khead.”
“Am I the only one wondering why Trump has a paper coaster over his glass of water? #TrumpMorgan,” someone else shared.
A fifth continued: “#TrumpMorgan I just wanna know what the white thing is on top of that glass of water tbh.”
While many were distracted by Trump’s water, others took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the interview.
The hour-long special was divisive, with one viewer tweeting: “I’m hooked. There’s no denying this interview is gripping, no matter what you think of @POTUS. #TrumpMorgan @itv.”
However others were less than impressed with another adding: “Literally the most pointless interview #TrumpMorgan.”
During the interview, President Trump revealed that he allows other members of his team to access his Twitter account.
He told the 52-year-old: “I also give it to people. I had one case where a lawyer did a tweet. I have a man called Daniel Scavino and I have people that are with me and Sarah [Huckabee Saunders].”
Trump went on to add that he often uses the social media app while in bed, noting: “Well, perhaps sometimes in bed, or perhaps sometimes at breakfast or lunch or whatever. Generally speaking during the early morning.”
President Trump – the Piers Morgan Interview is available to watch on the ITV player now.
