WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the sixth episode of season three of Poldark.
In perhaps one of the most bizarre scenes ever in the period drama, reprehensible vicar Reverend Whitworth (played by Christian Brassington) was seen suckling on the toes of a prostitute during a visit to a brothel.
It appeared that he had an intense foot fetish and was deeply aroused by putting toes in his mouth.
In fact, the reverend went so far as to see how much of the foot he could fit into his mouth as he opened up wide.
Viewers were revolted by the scenes playing out on their screens and flocked to social media to express their disgust.
One person said: “The vicar is revolting #poldark”
While a second person wrote on Twitter: “#Poldark Oh. Dear. God. Toe sucking. I feel sick.”
“I AM GOING TO BE SICK #POLDARK,” a third added with dismay.
During the stomach-churning scene, the less-than-holy vicar was seen discussing his upcoming nuptials with a prostitute whose toes he was sucking.
Sadly, by the end of the instalment Morwenna Chynoweth (Ellise Chappell) was forcibly wed to Reverend Whitworth in order to save the life of Drake Carne (Harry Richardson).
However, judging by the preview from next week’s episode, things will not bode well for the couple after he starts abusing her.
On top of that there are more hints that evil social climber George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) will learn about his wife Elizabeth’s (Heida Reed) dalliance with his sworn enemy Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner).
It also looks like Ross and Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) could be in trouble after Hugh Armitage (Josh Whitehouse) pays her a considerable amount of attention at a social event.
Poldark airs on BBC One on Sundays at 9pm.
