Wave 2 of the Pokemon Go Gen 4 release looks set to begin later this week.
Trainers are expecting an announcement regarding a new Halloween event in the coming days, although it would be kicking off later than last year’s.
Pokemon Go news regarding Halloween 2018 and the release of the next wave of Gen 4 Pokemon should be shared by Niantic, who have already confirmed that more Pocket Monster would be going live in the coming weeks.
HALLOWEEN 2018
Pokemon Go has featured a Halloween event since it first launched and isn’t expected to skip it in 2018.
The latest news suggests that the Gen 4 wave 2 will be included in the event and will focus on Ghost-types.
Niantic is expected to announce a new event for Halloween this week, possibly as early as today.
And like last year, Trainers are expecting new Pokemon to be available to catch during the event, along with their shiny companions.
Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon include Drifloon, Mismagius, Dusknoir, Froslass, Spiritomb and Drifblim.
Rotom also appears in Gen 4, although this particular Pocket Monster comes in many different forms.
It’s unclear if Niantic will introduce Rotom now, or stagger the release of its different forms.
Niantic recently hinted in a newsletter message posted online that Ghost-types would be the focus, telling fans:
“Breaking news! Breaking news, trainers. Professor Willow reports that spooky events have occurred nearby. Could they be the work of a Ghost-type Pokemon? Stay tuned to find out.”
It’s also possible that Ghost and Dragon Legendary Pokemon Giratina could make an appearance during a special Halloween Raid.
Giratina was seen at the end of the Gen 4 Sinnoh trailer, so a release date can’t be too far away.
There has also been an alleged leaked message from the Niantic team that suggests some big things are in place for Halloween 2018.
The only problem is that it hasn’t come from an official source and could therefore just be some fan fiction.
“Meet with Drifloon, Spiritomb and evolved forms of other Pokémon from other regions known both wild, incubating eggs and in the improved raids,” the reported message reads.
“You may encounter a Misdreavus Variocolor. During this season enjoy the double of pokémon candies in all functions.”
This certainly seems to be missing all the usual exclamation points that are part of any Niantic statement, so this can probably be discounted for now.
But that doesn’t mean something official won’t be shared in the coming days, both on Halloween and the next Community Day.
With the October Community Day event behind us, Niantic has announced plans to hold the next event in just a few weeks.
The November Community Day event will take place on November 10. Expect the event to take place from 10am to 1pm UK time.
Niantic will announce the next Community Day Pokemon within the next week, although the identity of the Pocket Monster may have already leaked.
Earlier this year, The Silph Road published a piece predicting the Community Day Pokemon for the year.
The post correctly claimed that Chikorita would headline the September event, while Slakoth, Cyndaquil and Trapinch were also tipped to appear.
The post also mentions Ralts, so it’s possible we’ll see the Psychic/Fairy type make an appearance soon.
