While Trainers are enjoying the latest launches right now, fans are starting to turn their attentions to the big Pokemon Go Gen 3 release.
Niantic have confirmed that new Pocket Monsters are being released this month, albeit, without actually confirming the major points.
The only solid information on the upcoming Pokemon Gen 3 launch comes from what the company wrote as part of their Halloween update.
The October event included a few Gen 3-types in the lineup, with Niantic suggesting that more would be launched in December.
“The rest of the Pokemon first seen in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will gradually arrive starting as early as December,” Niantic confirmed.
This would suggest that Niantic will not be launching all their new Pokemon in the next 30 days, but will likely spread them out further into 2018.
There’s even the chance that Niantic could use Gen 3 Pocket Monsters in future Pokemon Go events, perhaps being offered as a new unlock prize, like we saw with FarFetch’d.
Fans already know that Niantic probably only need to update the game one more time to have everything they need for the Gen 3 release, all we need now is a date.
Trainers are also hoping that the Pokemon Go Christmas event will be returning in 2017.
The Holiday Season Celebration launched pretty late in 2016, not being confirmed until December 23.
This event was far more sprawling then any attempted by Niantic at that point, offering a range of different bonuses over the holiday season.
Here’s the original 2016 statement, which confirms: “For the next couple of weeks, you’ll have even more reason to explore the world with your friends and family while you enjoy our year-end event.
“Don’t miss out on an increased chance to hatch a Togepi (and other Pokémon)! Starting the morning of December 25, 2016, and through the afternoon of January 3, 2017 (PST), PokéStops will award one single-use Incubator each day after your first Photo Disc spin.
“As you visit PokéStops during this time period, there will be a greater chance of finding Eggs that hatch Togepi, Pichu, and several other recently found Pokémon, originally discovered in the Johto region. Special Pikachu wearing festive hats will also be staying around a bit longer! You are more likely to find these limited-edition Pikachu during the time period of this celebration.
“In addition, from the afternoon of December 30, 2016, through the afternoon of January 8, 2017 (PST), the first partner Pokémon and their Evolutions, originally discovered in the Kanto region, are more likely to be encountered.
“This means a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, as well as Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, plus Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise! As a way to increase your chance to encounter one of these Pokémon, Lure Modules will also last for 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes.”
As mentioned above, the first Gen 2 Pokemon were offered in December, meaning some Gen 3 releases could also be attached to an upcoming event in 2017.
A new Pokemon Go update has seen Entei, Raikou, and Suicune removed from Gyms.
Each Legendary Pocket Monster was available to catch in specified regions.
They have been moved around the globe on a monthly basis have now been completely taken out of the Gym Raid cycle.
November 30 was the last day scheduled to include all three Pokemon to be available to catch, with no set date for their return.
Niantic have not yet said if they have plans to add new Legendary Pokemon to the existing EX Raid system, or whether that will remain exclusively for catching MewTwo.
But while Entei, Raikou, and Suicune have been removed from the Gym Raid playlist, Trainers will still have access to one Legendary-type.
Ho-Oh was recently launched as part of the Global Catch Challenge and isn’t set to disappear until December 12.
