Pokemon Go Adventure Week: Niantic reveal special Raid for rock event

The Pokemon Go Adventure Week kicks off later today and includes some intriguing new in-game events.

Niantic have decided to pair new Field Research with the usual bonuses seen during a Pokemon celebration.

This means that while Rock-type Pokemon such as Geodude will be appearing more frequently on the map, fans can also unlock other map rewards.

This includes completing new Field Research tasks, which will eventually lead to a new Raid event against Aerodactyl.

The Pokemon Go Adventure Week begins at 9pm, BST, today, and won’t end until early next month.

Niantic are also providing new bonuses that players can grab without having to embark on the new Field Research, including higher XP rewards, as well as better Candy rates for buddy Pokemon.

“Throughout the celebration, Rock-type Pokémon such as Geodude, Lileep, and Nosepass will appear more frequently in the wild,” a message from Niantic explains.

“There are also incentives to trek around: your Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy 4× faster throughout the event!

“Plus, you’ll receive extra XP for spinning the Photo Discs at PokéStops or Gyms—up to 10 times the usual amount if this is your first time encountering a unique PokéStop or Gym!

“Fortune favors the bold, Trainers, so join this adventure before it ends on June 5. Get up and GO!”

And having announced the new event today, Pokemon Go players are discussing just what Pocket Monsters will be worth focusing on over the next week.

“This would be a great time to switch Lunatone and Solrock,” one fan pointed out on Reddit.

“Or give them the Plusle/Minun treatment, even just for the duration of the event,” another replied.

“That would be even better! I only have 2 Lunatones, I would be happy to capture some more, apart from Solrock!”

“Same thoughts here. I only have one Lunatone so far and even that’s mostly due to the updated tracker. I rarely play at night, though.”

This will overlap with other changes Niantic are making to Field Research Quests next month.

From 9pm BST on June 1, Field Research Quests will shift the focus to Water-type Pokemon such as Seel, Kingler and Horsea.

Best of all, earning enough stamps for a Research Breakthrough unlocks an encounter with the Legendary Articuno.

“Get ready for more Field Research tasks and exciting rewards in June! On June 1 at 1pm PDT, a brand-new set of Field Research tasks focusing on Water-type Pokemon will become available,” reads a Niantic post.

“These tasks will particularly highlight Water-type Pokemon such as Seel, Kingler and Horsea.

“If you’re able to earn enough stamps for your Research Breakthrough, you’ll have the opportunity to catch the Legendary Ice-and-Flyting-type Pokemon Articuno!”

The only downside is that Trainers only have a week to try and capture current Field Research Legendary Zapdos.
