Presenter Alexander Armstrong and his assistant Richard have worked together on Pointless for over a decade now.
The duo are used to teasing each other on the popular BBC series and tonight’s edition was no different, as Richard, 48, launched straight into taking a swipe at his colleague.
Tonight’s episode of Pointless Celebrities was musical theatre-themed, and Alexander, 49, introduced the pairs first of all.
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Joanne Clifton joined ex-soap star and performer Ray Quinn.
Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar West End star Ben Forster took to the podium alongside Wicked musical favourite Kerry Ellis.
Hannah Waddingham and Jenna Russell made up the third team, while ex-Blue singer Duncan James and Aladdin performer Jade Ewen completed the ranks.
But just as Alexander finished off introducing all of the celebrities and their various skills, Richard turned things back onto him.
“It’s annoying when people can do everything isn’t it,” Richard suddenly commented, staring his co-host down with a sly grin.
Seemingly puzzled by Richard’s thinking, Alexander remained silent.
“It’s almost like if you could sing,” Richard then noted, still trying to goad his co-worker.
The amusing scenes drew plenty of giggles from the audience, but Alexander refused to rise to the bait, simply giving Richard a smile in return.
Meanwhile, viewers were divided over the contestants on the hit programme, with some concerned they didn’t know who the “celebrities” were.
Taking to Twitter, one person asked: “Who are these people on #pointless #celebrities? Particularly #Hannah asking for a friend……”
“Well #pointless celebrities has excelled itself tonight – I’ve never heard of any of these contestants!” another declared.
A third agreed: “Never heard of any of them #pointless.”
Conversely, one viewer shared: “Well look at that. With @Jonnyishh and now @jennarusselluk turns out I know TWO #Pointless finalists.”
“Lovely to see @joanneclifton on @BBCOne #pointless you’re definitely brightening up the usual boring teatime Telly Joanne!!” another wrote.
And fans continued to show their appreciation to producers, as one person praised: “@joanneclifton and @hanwaddingham on the same episode of #pointless?
“Wow @richardosman you really are spoiling us.”
“#pointless I enjoyed that episode a lot – great winners too,” another fan enthused.
Pointless continues Monday on BBC One.
