Meteors are raining down. Space junk is falling on your head. Warheads are trying to puncture their way into your living room. Naturally, the only way to stop that from happening is with sensible, well-thought-out card playing with Missile Cards, a mashup of Missile Command and…Solitaire?
Your job is to play from your hand of abilities and actions as dangerous space clutter rains down on your bases. Choosing from the varied actions you’ve drawn, you can deploy lasers, turrets, shields, repair drones, and do several other things as you decide what will make you more likely to survive the falling onslaught. Play them right, and you get to live for another day.
You have access to a handful of different decks, giving you an array of bases to try to keep intact, and can also unlock new cards that will let you customize your meteor-survival deck. You also gain experience as you play, which you can use to further bolster defenses and new powers. Just make sure you find a good use for them in a hurry, as the game is designed to put a lot of pressure on the player through its challenge. Figuring out what to do when a comet is about to slam down on your head is kind of a stressful situation, after all.
Missile Cards is available for $ 4.99 on Steam (with an Itch.io release coming soon). For more information on the game and developer Nathan Meunier, you can head to the developer’s site or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
