The 52-year-old host told Iain Duncan Smith and Chuka Umunna that the Deputy Prime Minister was asked on to discuss Theresa May’s one year anniversary as the head of the Government, but he refused.
Morgan began: “No disrespect, but we were supposed to have Damian Green but once again he has refused.
“You, [Duncan Smith and Umunna] are by no means first reserves but it shows there’s a bunker and it doesn’t help the government.”
Morgan didn’t stop there, warning the current Conservative Government that if they keep refusing appearances, their air time will go elsewhere.
The presenter said: “We love having politicians on the programme and our message to Theresa May and the Government is that if you keep banning your people from coming on, we’re going to give all our time to the Labour shadow government to talk about you.
“So that’s your option. Come on and face the music and do what you should do, which is talk to the electorate – our viewers – or if you want to play silly games, we’ll play them with you.
“Good morning, Prime Minister,” Morgan added.
Co-host Susanna Reid chimed in, adding that they are quite happy to get what she called “maverick” members, like Duncan Smith, to represent the party.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
