While a series of monumental failures have contributed the inferno, which is believed to have killed “hundreds” of residents from the West London tower block, Members of Parliament appear to be keeping their distance from the ITV show.
Regardless, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid have been praised by viewers for “not letting this tower tragedy go away”.
After revealing the residents of the Grenfell Tower have penned a hand-written letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, Morgan named the MPs declining to appear on GMB, including May, Sajid Javid, Emma Dent Coad, Kensington and Chelsea councillor Nick Paget-Brown, Leader of Camden Borough Council Georgia Gould and Tulip Siddiq.
“For whatever reason they don’t want to talk about the biggest housing crisis in my lifetime,” Morgan told audience members.
They were later joined by three residents of the Grenfell Tower, who claimed that May and her government aren’t taking the disaster “seriously”.
The latest outcry form Good Morning Britain comes after Morgan accused the Prime Minister of “blacklisting” the ITV show yesterday.
After confirming that Defence Secretary Sir Phillip Hammond had pulled out of GMB just hours before going on air, Morgan erupted.
“I am so sorry we haven’t got people from the government here today,” he fumed. “Theresa May has blocked anybody from coming in to the programme – but apparently, they are appearing on other outlets.
“They don’t want to come on our show because they don’t want to face the tough questions. I think that’s completely cowardly. Sir Michael Fallon, shame on you for saying you’d come on the show, then pulling out at midnight.
“You should be here talking to the people of this country whose lives have been affected – many of whom will be watching this programme. Shame on you.
“I want people at the top of the system to come on here, face the music and answer the difficult questions.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
