Speaking to GMB’s weather presenter Laura Tobin he explained the new move to his colleague over a video-call.
He explained: “We’re having this extraordinary thing where Susanna, Hilary and I, we’re going to have a week off.
However, his colleague jokingly appeared to not be aware of the move, with Susanna adding: “What? Have we been allowed out?”
Piers continued: “We’ll have half-term off next week, even though, of course, there is no half term.”

Speaking about her colleague’s decision, Susanna noted: “It’s so you can launch a full investigation into who whacked the back of your car!”
It comes after he blamed his co-host for hitting his car on yesterday’s instalment.
Piers replied: “Yes, well there is that. Also, it’s a long old haul isn’t it, we’re all sort of feeling a bit like…”
Her co-host added: “Well sorry but people will be playing the world’s smallest violin.”
However, Piers insisted he was not looking for sympathy, saying: “I’m not after violins, not after violins.
“We’re having half-term off, even though there is no half term,” with Susanna asking him what he would be getting up to.
Piers said: “I’m going upstairs. To my top room and have a lovely half-term week.”
He won’t be the only one away from the show as Susanna and the show’s resident doctor, Dr Hilary Jones, also have the week off.
