Penny Lancaster: 'Show sickening Manchester attack trolls videos of people being blown up'

The 46-year-old Loose Women star hit out at social media users who used the attack to boost their following, taking pictures from online of people not involved in the incident, including images of children, and sharing them alongside captions saying that they were missing family members after the bombing.

The ITV panel all seemed to feel very strongly about the use of children’s images along with the fake claims.

However, it was Penny who appeared to feel most strongly about how these online trolls should be punished for their actions.

“It makes my blood boil, I’ve got goose pimples all over,” she said. “They really need to be named and shamed.

“Choosing innocent children – victims – and pretending. It’s sickening.”

She insisted that people who had faked missing family members in the aftermath in order to gain Twitter followers and retweets should have their picture printed on the front page of newspapers along with an explanation as to what they had done, adding: “Then who’s going to want to follow them after that.”

She continued: “Sit them in a room showing them videos of people being blown up, and go, ‘Really?’ Just to put their faces right in it.

“Maybe even sit and listen to some of the families that are suffering and make them feel the guilt,” Penny added.

The horrific bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester on Monday left 22 people dead, the youngest of whom was just eight-years-old.

A further 64 were injured in the explosion and a minute’s silence was held earlier today to remember those who were affected by the terrorist attack.

Actor Tom Hardy set up a fundraising page to support the victims and their families which has helped to tip JustGiving donations over the £2 million mark.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
