Today’s interview came ahead of a tell-all documentary, called Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, due to air on ITV tonight where the Princes open up about their mother in extremely personal interviews.
The former butler to the princess explained that for him, the two Princes are still “two boys” and that “time has stood still”.
He admitted that when Diana died 20 years ago, the Princes were taken into a “sterile and cold world”.
Paul, 59, explained: “We have to remember that the boys were 15 and 12 and they were taken into Buckingham Palace, a sterile and very cold world where Diana’s name was taboo.
“They were never allowed to speak about her or talk about their emotions.
“Now they’re not in that world and they’re out of that system and they’re young men with their own destiny in front of them so they can speak quite raw and candid about life inside Kensington Palace.
He went on to admit that Diana would be a “wonderful grandmother” to Prince George and Princess Charlotte, joking that “Mrs Middleton wouldn’t have got a look in”.
This comes after Piers Morgan revealed he shared a “laugh-a-minute” dinner with the Princess and William.
The Good Morning Britain presenter revealed that Diana was “mischievous” and “hilarious”, adding to Harry’s comments from the documentary where he said she was “one of the naughtiest parents”.
