Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton) may have made either the best decision or the worst decision of her life when she decided to travel through time to warn her mother Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and biological father Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) on Outlander.
While the stubborn red-head finally met Jamie for the first time and was reunited with her mother in emotional scenes, Brianna and on-off beau Roger (Richard Rankin) had a dramatic fallout just as soon as they got married.
Even worse, Brianna was raped by the despicable Stephen Bonnet (Edwards Speleers) the very same day as she lost her virginity to Roger, meaning when she fell pregnant – she wasn’t sure whose baby it was.
After confiding in her mother, Brianna decided to keep the baby and she and Roger were finally reunited in the season four finale.
When the show returns in season five, viewers will see the 20th Century historian meet the baby, but they may never find out exactly who the infant’s father is.
Now though, a new casting of two twin boys has some fans convinced they will be playing an older “Jemmy” – fans of Diana Gabaldon’s novels know this is the name of Brianna’s child.
Yet the children’s hair is blonde – would this reveal for the avoidance of doubt Jemmy is actually Stephen Bonnet’s son?
On August 9, KR Management posted the news of an important casting announcement to the historical drama on their official Facebook page.
“We are delighted to announce that KRM Kids, Matthew and Andrew at just three years old will be joining the cast of the very well known American TV Drama, Outlander!” the company revealed.
“Well done boys, we are so excited for you both! #KRManagement,” they added.

A user named Scott Adair then reposted the image captioning it: “Proud daddy moment. #Outlander.”
An eagle-eyed Reddit fan then shared the news, prompting a slew of theories about who the youngsters could be playing in season five of the series.
Boredpapa cried: “Jemmy!!!!!!”
“If they follow book 5, Jemmy gets to age 2.5 by the end,” derawin07 continued. “They are still only in the first half of filming, so maybe these cuties are for the end of the season, and will be a slightly older Jem. But they will also be older by then.
“Though, seeing as Germain [Fergus and Marsali’s child] was literally a doll for about a year last season, their portrayal of kids hasn’t been that accurate lol.
“Fergus [star Cesar Domboy] mentioned in the World Outlander Day video that the child actor they had for the first episodes, at least, for Germain was called Robbie.”
Another fan called MrsChickenPam replied: “Ah, I didn’t know that about what ‘Fergus’ said. I figured these cuties would be Germain.
“Wasn’t sure though, I don’t think the ages of the kids in the shows is really lining up – wouldn’t Marsali be completely pregnant w/ Joanie by now? IF they’re Jemmy, hopefully they’ll colour their hair.”
Fellow user Caroline Turpentine offered: “I think this would be Germain, Jemmy is supposed to be a redhead. Part of the reason his paternity is unknown is that he has his mother’s red hair rather than Roger’s dark hair or Bonnet’s blonde hair.”
Will the show take the casting in another direction and have Brianna’s child’s paternity appear more obvious due to hair colour? Or will the new cast members be playing completely new characters altogether?
Outlander season five returns to STARZ and Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
