OnePlus 6 biggest new feature has just been confirmed by OnePlus

There’s still no official release date for the OnePlus 6 but there’s one big feature that we now know will be included of this flagship.

In an exclusive interview with The Verge, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed the firm’s next smartphone will feature a notch similar to the iPhone X.

This design will allow OnePlus to stretch the screen across more of the device giving users a larger display in a phone that’s not physically bigger.

The notch concept has come under some criticism with Apple getting plenty of bad press when it first unveiled this new look last year.

Despite this abuse, OnePlus appears confident fans will love its new design.

“How big a notch is always depends on your choices as a company,” Pei told The Verge.

“What you are essentially doing is moving the entire notification bar up, giving users more content on their screen.”

There’s no word on how big the screen will be on the OnePlus 6 but we do know how big this notch will be.

At 19.616mm x 7.687mm “It’ll be bigger than the Essential Phone, smaller than the iPhone,” Pei confirmed.

Along with this new design there’s been plenty of leaks which suggest this new phone will packed with new features and plenty of power.

Tucked under the hood is likely to be the ultra fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor which is not only incredibly powerful but also much more efficient meaning longer battery life.

And talking of battery this could be the first OnePlus to include wireless charging.

Other new features could include a refresh and improved dual-lens camera, 6.2-inch edge-to-edge display and Android Oreo out of the box.

One thing that’s unlikely to change from its predecessors is the inclusion of a headphone port with OnePlus boss Carl Pei recently tweeting “Headphone jack demand stable YoY as per my Twitter followers. You’d expect it to decrease, no?”

OnePlus has always said they believe in keeping this popular way of connecting headphones and this latest message could confirm things are staying as they are.

And there’s even more good news for loyal OnePius followers as it seems this next generation phone is going to launch with 256GB of storage for the first time in the company’s history.

Alongside the 256GB version it’s also thought OnePlus will launch 64GB and 128GB models which should be cheaper than the top-end device.

It’s currently not known when the OnePlus 6 will be unveil but expect a launch in the coming months.

Sadly it seems this new tech may add to the price with a rumour suggesting the 256GB model will cost $ 749 (£550) making it the most expensive phone OnePlus has ever made.

Of course, even at this higher price, the OnePlus 6 is still cheaper than the £1,000 iPhone X and £739 Galaxy S9 but some may be disappointed to see prices rising to this level.
