Nintendo Switch Stock: Gamestop waits on more as Nintendo reveal July restock plans

Nintendo have revealed that demand has far surpassed their original estimates and they’re now looking to have an install base of around 10m by the end of the current fiscal year.

But while Nintendo strive to boost their production numbers to keep up with supply, Nintendo Switch stock at Gamestop and GAME is still unable to keep up.

A statement from Nintendo to MCVUK explains: “”For Nintendo Switch, our initial plan for the fiscal year ended March 2017 was to ship two million units by the end of March, but we increased production which resulted in shipping 2.74 million units globally.

“For products like Nintendo Switch, it takes time to procure parts and run production, so we perform demand estimates far in advance of launch. Actual demand following the launch of these products surpassed our estimates globally.

“To take advantage of this favorable momentum, we will continue to bolster our manufacturing facilities and strive to increase production in preparation for the Christmas period, which has been factored into our forecast of shipping 10 million units globally by the end of this fiscal year.”

But while increases in production have been promised, There still isn’t enough Nintendo Switch stock at places like Gamestop.

Nintendo have confirmed that they expect more stock to arrive later this month, adding: “We anticipate more stock to arrive in mid-July. Customer orders will be fulfilled in the order they are placed.”

Players in the UK mostly have access to pre order pages for the Nintendo Switch, effectively putting down a deposit so that they can queue for a system.

A message from GAME explains: “At this time we have not received official confirmation of the next stock delivery of this product.

“We are working extremely hard with Nintendo to receive more stock of the Nintendo Switch for customers.

“Until we have our stock delivery confirmed by Nintendo, a placeholder date of TBC has been put onto this product. This can change once the delivery of stock has been confirmed and the status of your order will change accordingly.”

Having called a couple of Gamestop stores across the United States, it appears that many stores are waiting for an email from Nintendo on when they can expect the next shipments to go out.

Fans can still sign up to have their name taken so that they are notified as soon as new stock is available.

One store employee told the Express Online that fans could be waiting as little as a week, or as long as a month before more stock is made available.

It should be noted that this was confirmed at one local store, meaning that the situation could be completely different at another location in the United States.
