Nigella Lawson under fire carbonara recipe – chef is dubbed the ‘DEATH of Italian recipes’

Nigella Lawson posted the Italian Spaghetti Alla Carbonara recipe to her Facebook page yesterday.

However, it has since caused outrage after fans of Italian cuisine were left fuming thanks to the inclusion of one controversial ingredient.

Nigella, 57, wrote on the Facebook post, which has attracted over 3,000 responses: “I think spaghetti carbonara is what Meryl Streep cooks for Jack Nicholson in the film version of one of my favourite books, ‘Heartburn’, and it is so right, for that chin-dripping, love-soaked primal feast, the first time someone actually stays through the night.”

She also posted a link to her recipe on her own website.

Nigella’s carbonara recipe includes 500 grams of spaghetti, 275 grams of cubed pancetta (or lardons) and two teaspoons olive oil,

However, these are not the ingredients that have caused the public outrage.

The 60 millilitres of double cream is the reason fans are upset.

One such Facebook user wrote: “Nigella you are a wonderful woman but your recipes are the DEATH of Italian recipes, literally!NO CREAM IN CARBONARA NEVER, only eggs.” [sic]

Another said: “This is a recipe of your’s, it’s not Carbonara. No wine, no cream and egg yolks only in italian real Carbonara.” [sic]

One Italian added: “Nigella for us, italians and romans, its absolutely forbidden any kind of cream in any kind of pasta and never never never in carbonara! Please!” [sic]

However, not everyone agreed with the critcism of Nigella’s recipe.

One wrote: “Don’t listen to this narrow minded idiots Nigella. They haven’t even tried it.”

Another said: “Who gives a c*** if it’s not ‘genuine’ carbonara? I’ll eat the whole pot because bacon.

Nigella Lawson has shocked fans with her weight loss, prompting her followers to call her “skinny” and “slim”.

The chef – known for indulgent recipes – shared the image on her Instagram – and most praised the brunette for her slimmer figure.

Nigella Lawson posted the image to Instagram, showing the celebrity chef filming for her latest series.

The chef could be seen in a kitchen, cooking over a hob while a camera man caught the action on film.
