NHS prescriptions for ‘seductive’ opioid painkillers surges by 80 per cent in ten years

PRESCRIPTIONS for powerful painkillers have soared by 80 per cent in a decade, figures showed yesterday. Doctors in England issued 23.8 million opioid drugs last year, such as tramadol – on which TV star Ant McPartlin, 42, became hooked after a knee operation.
