Mark (played by Scott McGregor) is being led to believe he is the father of wife Elly’s (Jodi Anasta) baby on Neighbours, unaware the child’s true parentage was as a result of a one night stand.
Elly thought she had connived the baby with a stranger at first, unaware the father, Shaun Watkins (Brad Moller), is the brother of her former arch nemesis, Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) on the Channel 5 soap.
It’s Finn who Elly turns to next week when she struggles to keep on top of her web of lies with the reformed criminal urging the expectant mother to tell the truth.
The fallout of the bombshell will see Mark chuck Elly out the couples home as he reels from the tragic news but now, actor Scott McGregor, 38, has teased whether his character has it in him to forgive his wife again.
Is Amy Williams going to leave Neighbours for good?
Viewers will remember this isn’t the first time Elly has had to do the right thing as after the couple tied the knot, she told Mark she had cheated on him with his sister, Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly).
Hitting out after Elly reveals the truth about her pregnancy, Mark tells the expectant mother he only gave their marriage another go for the baby, hinting there is no going back this time.
Speaking with Inside Soap about Elly’s deception, Scott said: “For him, [the ultrasound] is a complete betrayal – probably even more so than the fact that Shaun is the biological father.
“Caitlin was the baby he so desperately wanted, and Elly using her as part of her cover-up is a lot to absorb.”
However, although fans will be left thinking this is finally it for Elly and Mark, the Neighbours star didn’t rule out a reunion for the pair in the future.
“He definitely has the capacity to forgive, in time, because Mark is not a malicious person. But he has values, and these have been broken by Elly. It’s just going to take a while.”
As the rest of Ramsay Street learn of the news, Elly Conway star Jodi Anasta, 34, ha also revealed the aftermath will be heartbreaking as her character faces up to her actions.
Meanwhile, as well as helping Elly with her baby troubles, Finn will be dealt more turmoil when he begins to recall some of his lost memories.
Finn was diagnosed with retrograde amnesia earlier this year when he awoke from a coma following a harrowing fall off a cliff having been pushed by Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne).
With no memory of what he’s done with his life since 2007, including committing a number of sinister crimes, Finn was acquitted of his atrocities by the courts.
When Finn comes face-to-face with former colleague Harry Sinclair (Paul Dawber), the former felon recognises the sinister character.
Next week, Finn will confide in David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) about his recent memory recall, unaware his presence in Ramsay Street is causing a rift between the doctor and his husband, Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson).
David tells Finn he has to report the matter to the authorities who will then question whether the reformed criminal will have to be put back on the stand.
Finn pleads with David not to make the call and unsure as what to do with the information, David gets back in contact with psychology expert, Beverly Marshall (Shaunna O’Grady).
With his attention distracted by Finn, David completely forgets about his date with Aaron and when his husband later goes snooping through the files, he comes across the memory recall.
Thinking this is the evidence he needs to get rid of Finn once and for all, Aaron takes the report to Mark but what will the police officer do with the information?
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
