MW2 Remastered releasing in 2018 WITHOUT Call of duty multiplayer mode

That’s according to reports today that suggest Activision are doing things a little differently with their latest project.

The MW2 Remastered release date has been rumoured for 2018 for sometime but now new details have emerged on its launch.

Media sources have confirmed today that while MW2 Remastered is real and in development, it will be missing a key feature.

Eurogamer have revealed that the new Call of Duty project won’t have a multiplayer mode, something that’s surely not going to go down well with fans.

“So, we can expect Modern Warfare 2 Remastered ahead of the release of Black Ops 4 in October, but the omission of the multiplayer portion of the game is curious given the enduring fan love for it, and the fact the successful Modern Warfare Remastered did include multiplayer,” Eurogamer reports.

This would suggest that Activision are looking to a campaign release only in 2018, which will surprise a lot of people.

It should be noted that there has been no official comment made by Activision on the subject, although two separate sources have apparently confirmed this news now.

Another report out today also suggests that Raven Software is not working on the new remaster project.

They were the team behind the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered that released a few year ago.

There have been rumours that a development team at Beenox is handling the project instead.

There have also been rumours of a MW2 Remastered release date arriving soon, and it appears more evidence has arrived to back this up.

Having already seen Activision confirm that they’re looking into launching new remaster projects over the next few years, we’ve also been given a big hint on what that might be.

A new retail listing suggests that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will be arriving in 2018.

Unfortunately it came with just a placeholder release date, although this would suggest that the game is being primed for 2018.

April 30 seems like an unlikely date for Activision to launch a new COD, who have actually yet to confirms its existence.

And it now seems likely that this new campaign will arrive early, ahead of Black Ops 4 in October.

The big community reveal for Black Ops 4 will be held in May, which means a new MW2 project could also be announced.

This fact is what makes a reveal for MW2 Remastered before that time seem unlikely.

Fans are also hoping that something for Nintendo Switch could also be announced.

Black Ops 4 was expected to be the first COD to launch on the new hybrid console.

There’s no guarantee that this will happen, with only rumours backing that outcome at this time.

Recent reports have indicated that the Switch version of Bo4 will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls.

Could we also see MW2 Remastered 2 on the Nintendo Switch? It looks like we could be finding out more in the weeks to come.
