Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer: PS4 and Xbox One's new APEX mission revealed

The daily and weekly limited-time incursions allow fans to earn valuable funds to spend on equipment, characters and items.

BioWare has put in place a higher difficulty standard for those wanting a bigger Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer challenge, as well as a new race to fight.

“Platinum difficulty introduces the greatest challenge yet for APEX forces,” BioWare explains.

“Platinum matches feature more enemies, stronger enemies in earlier waves, and from a variety of factions joining forces to challenge APEX members.

“Earn greater rewards by taking on the toughest challenge APEX has faced to-date.”

The official APEX site confirms there’s only 10-hours to complete the latest mission.

The new Mass Effect multiplayer adventure centres around fighting the Batarians on a new map and is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Firebase Vertigo description reads: “Scattered around Voeld, these towers function as Kett outposts and surface-level entrances to underground facilities that produce and store geothermal energy, making them excellent strategic targets.”

This latest missions has dropped the earlier briefings that provided more story background, and instead focuses on what you need to do.

APEX MISSION DETAILS:

“The search for the second Batarian pirate leads to an abandoned Kett tower. We’ll send a distress signal from there. Careful though, there’s outlaw camps nearby.”

Match Difficulty: Silver

Match Modifier: Weakened Assault Team; Hand to Hand

Weakened Assault Team: “Your team’s success is dependent on your ability to work together.

“You will fight through the challenge of reduced shields and health – use of combined power and shield boosters will come in handy.”

Hand to Hand: This modifier includes a -25% weapon damage modifier and a -25% power damage along with a +100% melee damage bonus.

Last week’s mission introduced the Batarians, as well as a new map and a special weapon.

According to BioWare, The Batarians brought the Kishock Harpoon Gun to Andromeda so they could spear their enemies in an entirely new galaxy.

“The barbed harpoons stick tight and continue to cause massive internal injuries to targets over time. The projectiles drop slightly during flight unless the shooter quickly charges the rifle before firing.”

It’s unclear how many new APEX missions will arrive in the future, although based on earlier cycles it seems likely there will be at least two more.
