Marvel Launches Rock ‘n’ Roll Variant Covers, Which Are Actually Kinda Cool

The comic book industry is basically eating culture — you basically can’t go to the movies these days without climbing over all the promo paraphernalia for yet another heinously expensive film for yet another obscure superhero (Redditman vs DCEUman, coming next summer!), and now it appears they’re turning their attention toward music. Great.

But, to be fair, these covers — which were posted on Twitter yesterday by Marvel VP and Executive Editor Ryan Penagos — are pretty great. As per Penagos’s tweet, they’re “Marvel rock variant covers,” and are “coming this fall.” They build on the idea of the hip hop variant covers that Marvel has been releasing over the last couple of years, which have been hugely successful. How long until Marvel starts signing artists to its record label? Watch this space.
