The Money Saving Expert was recalling the harrowing moment his phone was stolen from him earlier this week by two men on a moped.
Martin, 45, tweeted about the incident, saying: “Feeling slightly shocked. 2 men on moped just rode up pavement to snatch my mobile from my hand. Police say its getting more common. Beware.” (sic)
Today, he explained the scary moment, telling hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard: “I had my phone in two hands and with real accuracy and precision they came over my right shoulder and snatched it out of my hands.
“There were six women on the pavement and thank god my little girl wasn’t with me and they got off with the phone.
“A couple of people are saying it was my fault for using my phone, but I’m not going to subjugate myself for these criminals,” Martin added, before being ironically interrupted by a phone ringing off-screen.
As the camera flipped to co-hosts, Kate Garraway and Richard Arnold, the former exclaimed that it wasn’t her phone behind the gaffe.
Clearly embarrassed by the unfortunate timing of the blunder, the Richard confessed: “I’m sorry, it’s my mum.”
Susanna joked back, saying: “I don’t think we need sound effects for the phone story, Richard.”
Earlier on the ITV show, Susanna, 46, was shocked as Alex Salmond appeared to confirm a second Scottish independence referendum.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
