Alex Jones was joined by Michael Ball for the second time this week as the pair continue to front The One Show amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As such, the pair weren’t joined by any of their guests live in the BBC studio but instead spoke with Strictly Come Dancing‘s Susan Calman and Doc Martin star Martin Clunes via video link from their respective homes.
However, the chat with Martin didn’t exactly get off to the smoothest of starts as Michael had to step in and warn his co-host and guest live on air.
The incident arose shortly after a segment following a veterinarian working lockdown had aired on the BBC programme.
The clip followed Steven, a vet in the Shropshire town of Whitchurch as he continued to come to the aid of animals in need despite the current COVID-19 preventative measures issued by the UK Government.
Knowing Martin is an animal-lover himself, The One Show hosts were keen to know his thoughts on the film.

Through her laughter, Alex concurred: “I thought the same earlier on!”
Michael on the other hand jokingly warned the pair: “Yeah, but you can think it, you don’t have to say it!”
Alex composed herself before moving on: “There must be reason mustn’t there. Anyway…”
Thinking on the spot, Martin decided to move the show on by joking that he could use one of his pet dogs a face mask.
