Mamma Mia 2 songs: Guess the BEST-SELLING tune from the soundtrack? TEN songs in Top 100

The movie – titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again – was released last Friday to a warm response from critics and audiences alike.

The accompanying album features a lot of input from Lily James, who plays young Donna; plus performances from Amanda Seyfried, Cher, Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters.

At time of writing, the best-selling song from the soundtrack on iTunes is Fernando; performed by Cher, with additional vocals from Andy Garcia.

That song is currently at No35 on the Top Songs rankings, and on Monday’s official midweek chart update it was No94 – the only song from the film to chart.

On iTunes it’s followed by When I Kissed The Teacher, at No49.

It’s the first big musical number of the sequel, and is performed by James with a verse from Celia Imrie. Jessica Keenan Wynn and Alexa Davies are also in the mix.

The third best-seller is My Love, My Life – the emotional song performed by James, Seyfried and Streep at the end of the movie – currently at No54.

Two places behind at No56 is James’s spin on Andante, Andante.

Also currently ranking in the iTunes Top 100 are Why Did It Have To Be Me? (No62), Mamma Mia (No65), Super Trouper (No67), I’ve Been Waiting For You (No68), One Of Us (No77) and Angel Eyes (No87).

Waterloo, I Have A Dream, Kisses of Fire, The Name of the Game, Knowing Me Knowing You and Dancing Queen are all stationed outside the Top 100 at present; as are the two songs that didn’t make the finished cut of the movie – I Wonder (Departure) and The Day Before You Came.

The album is expected to be No1 on the Official UK Album Chart this week, after debuting at No4 before the film had even come out.

ABBA legend Bjorn Ulvaeus recently revealed how much fun he had reworking some of the group’s tracks for the sequel.

“We are using songs that are not that well known from the ABBA catalogue so for instance in a song called I’ve Been Waiting For You, I tweaked, I rewrote the verses a little,” he explained.

“It was great fun writing for a particular scene in the movie and I think it’s come out so well.”

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and its soundtrack are out now.
