Luther will be back on television screens this Tuesday with a brand new series.
The hit BBC One show has been missing from TV since the end of its fourth season back in 2015.
Since then, viewers have been eager to jump back into the murder mysteries with DCI John Luther (played by Idris Elba).
But the fan-favourite shows’ comeback is not the only thing to get excited about.
Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson) is also returning.
Speaking about her character’s highly anticipated return to Radio Times, actress Ruth said: “It feels great to be back for series 5.”
She also explained how much she has “missed Alice” just as much “as everyone else has”.
“It’s a fun character to play and I get to do some action in this season.
“I get to kill a few more people… and have some great scenes with Idris,” Ruth revealed.
Does this mean she is working alongside the “psycho-sexual murderer” which was described in the series synopsis?
Ruth also speaks of where the storyline catches up with Alice.
“We find that Alice isn’t actually dead, [and] things have gone a bit wrong, so she’s come back to get Luther’s help.”
As for the series itself, she described it as “action packed”.
“Alice is back with a vengeance. She’s funnier than ever, she’s more lethal than ever and she and Luther get up to some dastardly things.”
Viewers will tune in to see the first episode get off to a surprising start.
Spoilers have revealed Luther will be tied to a char and beaten savagely.
As if that wasn’t enough, scenes will also show him being tasered twice.
But the torture does nothing to put him off his next case.
A sadistic killer is on the loose and has committed the most appalling violence on a long young woman.
Will Luther be able to track down the murderer before they kill again? Or will Luther’s own past catch up with him before it’s too late?
Luther season 5 airs Tuesday 1 January at 9pm on BBC One.
