Lucifer season 5 theories: Lucifer to transform into an angel to be with Chloe?

Rumours are circling that the fifth season may not actually be the Netflix series’ last. Originally airing on Fox, Lucifer was picked up by the streaming platform for two more exciting seasons. After the stunning season finale, anything could happen when the fantasy procedural returns later this year.

Season four ended decisively when Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) admitted her love for Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), confirming that the prophecy was true.

Father Kinley (Graham McTavish) confided to Chloe that evil would be unleashed when Lucifer was with his first love.

Chloe tells Lucifer she loves him, and the season concluded with the Devil reclaiming his throne in Hell, seemingly proving the prophecy correct.

However, many fans considered the season finale to be pretty ambiguous, and there is still considerable speculation as to how the events of season five will transpire.

It’s widely believed that the series will eventually conclude for good with Lucifer and Chloe sealing their relationship and living happily ever after.

Although, this is a very optimistic take and some fans know better than to expect things to turn out for the best in the frequently bleak series.

One fan took to Reddit to propose some theories for the upcoming season.

User nasuia said: “Spoilers imply that things won’t be exactly rosy and that we won’t have an easy, happy end.

“On the other hand, I find it impossible that Lucifer and Chloe may not end up together.”

After such a lengthy build-up, it would be crushing if the series concludes with the fan favourite couple being forced apart.

They continued: “When Chloe said to Lucifer that she loved him, he didn’t say ‘I love you’ back. So, maybe, if Lucifer tells somebody ‘I love you’ and really means it, then the curse that makes him the Devil will be lifted and he will be reinstated in Heaven as his angel self, again.”

Despite the fact Chloe confessed her love to Lucifer, the writers of the series made sure that he didn’t say anything back, leaving the next season open to multiple prophetic possibilities.

Even though it would be distressing to see Lucifer fall in love with someone else, this fan points out that it may be necessary for the couple to eventually find their way back to each other.

They added: “Maybe Chloe will be about to die and Lucifer won’t be able to reverse it as he did all the other times.

“So, desperate to follow her to Heaven, he says ‘I love you’ to her, and finds himself in Heaven beside her.”

Sometimes a bittersweet ending is the only way to properly conclude a series as twisted as Lucifer.

Many fan theories have speculated that Lucifer or Chloe will have to alter themselves in some way to sustain their relationship.

This speculation is the latest in a long line of suggestions for how the end of the show will go down.

However, now season six is back on the cards, fans may be teased with yet another shocking season finale and have to wait all over again for the fates of Lucifer and Chloe to be revealed.

Lucifer season 4 is streaming on Netflix now.
