Loose Women viewers in meltdown over Meg Mathews’ explicit admission: ‘Is nothing sacred?’

Noel Gallagher’s former wife confessed that masturbating helped ease some of her symptoms, with many fans taking to Twitter in shock at her honesty.

The star admitted she had 32 out of the 34 symptoms associated with the menopause after one day just waking up feeling different.

Speaking to Andrea McLean, Linda Robson, Kaye Adams and Stacey Solomon, Meg urged other women to speak openly about going through the ageing process.

When asked about her sex life, she said: “I still haven’t got much of a libido, I didn’t want to admit that. I split up with my partner – the thought of having sex was not a big thing.”

Meg went on: “They have seen scientifically proven that the more that you masturbate, the better [the menopause] is.

“It has worked for me, yeah. It puts a spring in your step, you can get quite dry in your vagina and it helps to maintain it, keep it more plump.”

Her honesty quickly saw people react online, with one user tweeting: “Oh masturbation. Is nothing sacred these days… #FullyOpen #LooseWomen.”

Two others agreed: “Too much information – this time of day FFS! STOP IT #LooseWomen,”(sic) and: “Will they put the vagasil or vagina dryness ads on next? #LooseWomen.”

A fourth continued: “Please don’t say masturbate while I’m sitting watching with my parents (I’m 47 BTW) #LooseWomen.”

Meanwhile, others praised her bravery: “Masturbation is nature’s own pain relief, great way to ease period pains, yes women masturbate #LooseWomen.”

“Congratulations to #MegMathews for your honest, informative interview on #LooseWomen this afternoon. Openly discussing her symptoms and issues surrounding #Menopause #WomensIssues Bravo,” another post stated.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
