The popular ITV show will be cancelled for one whole week, leaving Loose Women fans with no other choice but to watch reruns or the horse racing.
Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford made the shock announcement during today’s episode.
The 57-year-old host told viewers that the show will be off-air for the rest of this week so the annual Cheltenham races can be screened in its place.
Ruth explained: “That’s it for today and for the rest of the week I’m afraid.
“Because we are off air because of ITV’s coverage of the horse-racing at Cheltenham.”
The studio audience were visibly angry and gave a collective sigh.
Ruth then quickly tried to reassure the studio audience in attendance and those watching at home.
She continued: “We will be back next Monday, that’s a week away!
“But have a great week and we will see you same time next Monday.”
Viewers instantly took to social media following Ruth’s announcement.
One viewer tweeted: “NO LOOSE WOMEN FOR THE WEEK?! OH NOOOO…… #LooseWomen.”
“Horseracing WHAT!!!!!! #LooseWomen,” posted another, as a third wrote: “Did I just hear Ruth correctly? I’m absolutely fuming #LooseWomen #HorseRacing.”
Another said: “No Loose Women for the rest of the week. Seriously @ITV you have enough other channels to put bl**dy horse racing on.”
A fifth disgruntled viewer complained: “Great to see I’m not the only viewer to complain that @loosewomen is off air because of horse racing.
“Just sent a very detailed email to complain. Can’t think that racing would have more viewers!
“It’s madness and very annoying. Wonder how many viewers will watch the racing over four days compared to LW viewers!
“There is no excuse these days not to have a separate sports channel as every tv in this country has more than three channels regardless if you pay or not!”
Cheltenham takes place over four days and included the opening races on Champion Day Tuesday, Ladies Day on Wednesday, Thursday is St Patrick’s Day before Gold Cup Day on Friday.
