Listen to serpentwithfeet’s Haunting Cover of Beyoncé’s “Love Drought”

serpentwithfeet (a.k.a. Josiah Wise) performed yesterday on Huw Stephens’ BBC 1 show, playing “flickering” off his 2016 EP, Blisters, and bringing out a new, piano-and-vocals cover of Beyoncé’s Lemonade track, “Love Drought.” If you’re not familiar with serpentwithfeet’s work, the cover actually isn’t a misleading intro, as it likewise relies on his gorgeously restless voice to push you down the moody, meandering paths of the song towards eventual crescendo. (On top of this, though, the EP features layered vocals, gospel influences, and string instrumental bursts that underscore his pronunciations — in other words, listen to it now.)
