Law & Order: True Crime — The Menendez Murders Finds Its Erik

Law & Order: True Crime — The Menendez Murders continues to take shape at NBC, with up-and-comer Gus Halper (Power, Public Morals) set to star as Erik Menendez, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The inaugural installment of the eight-episode anthology series focuses on Lyle and Erik Menendez, brothers who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Halper, whose TV credits also include guest stints on Mercy Street and Chicago P.D., is the second actor to join the project, following the February casting of Edie Falco as tenacious defense attorney Leslie Abramson.

Law & Order vet Rene Balcer will pen the series and serve as an executive producer alongside Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Arthur W. Forney.

Lifetime is also readying a Menendez brothers project, with Courtney Love set to play mom Kitty Menendez.
