The actress has taken on a wealth of acclaimed roles since coming out of the Twilight franchise, and this new psychological thriller looks set to up her profile even more.
In her role as Maureen, she will be seen baring her breasts in a scene that sees her lounging around in bed.
Stills from the motion picture also see her in black underwear, while others show a male hand reaching in to touch her.
She recently told E! News that she found the moment “empowering”, saying: “Not because I was taking my clothes off, but just because I was getting to the most primal part of the [character], finally, someone who’s really closed off.
“So then I felt like they were the most revealing, but also the most empowering scenes.”
The film has struggled to achieve decent reviews from critics, but it seems Stewart has not been blamed for its downsides.
RogerEbert.com said: “Whatever Stewart’s shortcomings, writer/director Assayas is the guy who has to stand up and take a bow for this bomb.”
The Guardian, however, went for a full five-star verdict, while Empire gave three.
Last year the star joked about trying out for James Bond alongside Nicholas Hoult.
“You start off as the Bond girl and then you think it’s just the girlfriend,” she suggested.
“Then you’re like, ‘She’s actually Bond.’ In the trailer, it’s [Hoult] and then a bait and switch.”
Personal Shopper is out in the UK on March 17.
