Kevin Spacey: Christopher Plummer on reshooting disgraced star’s film role ‘It's very SAD’

The Oscar contending movie was already finished in post-production and set for its US release on December 22.

However following numerous sexual assault allegations against Spacey, who stars as J Paul Getty, All The Money In The World is reshooting his scenes in just six weeks.

Director Scott has to keep with the original release date in order for the film to qualify for the Academy Awards in just a few months time.

Now replacement star has spoken out on taking up the role last minute.

Speaking at the premiere for his new movie, The Man Who Invented Christmas, Plummer said: “I was in contention [for the role of J Paul Getty] a long time ago, so I was familiar with it.

“It isn’t replacing. In a funny way it’s starting all over again because it’s going to be different, naturally.

“The situation is very sad, because he’s such a talented guy.

“The whole circumstance is sad. But I’ve got to forget that and go and do it, because it’s a very well written script and Ridley has been very good.”

Spacey’s incarnation as Getty can still be seen in the first trailer for the new movie, which is still on YouTube.

All The Money In The World will be released in UK cinemas on January 5, 2018.
