Guess The Star, hosted by Jonathan Ross, saw teams of celebrities battle it out to guess which well-known faces were dressed up as famous singers as they lip synced to a number.
The disguised entertainers included Russell Kane, Nik and Eva Speakman, Chris Kamara as well as Kate, 50.
While performing as Sia, Kate managed to expose her face to the contestants, which she was supposed to keep hidden under the singer’s trademark wig.
Antony Cotton on Team Coronation Street noted that Kate had accidentally let slip her true identity.
“There was a very enthusiastic move right at the begining were the performer went like that with her head and the whole wig went off and we just saw her face,” he explained.
As well as Kate’s mistake, the show was not well received by viewers, who took to Twitter to vent.
“@ITV what the dickens…… Guess the star??? What a complete load of rubbish (could use a stronger word but keeping it clean) TV this Christmas has been repeats and utter tosh – sorry you need to up your game,” one complained.
“@ITV Guess the star…what a pile of utter s***. #WTF,” another viewer commented.
Many were disappointed by the show which appeared to fall short of their expectations.
However, it wasn’t given a complete pasting as some did compliment it.
“Get itv on NOW. guess the star. best telly ive seen all year [sic],” one praised.
While another said: “This guess the star programme is pretty good #GuessTheStar.”
It is not known when the gameshow will return, but Jonathan assured it would “be back soon.”
Guess The Star is now available to watch on The ITV Hub.
