Karen and Kevin Clifton ‘unsure’ of Strictly Come Dancing return after confirming SPLIT

The Strictly Come Dancing duo – who have been married for three years – have been plagued with split rumours for months, but appeared to be united as they broke the news together.

Kevin began: “Privately we are not together anymore but professionally we are stronger than ever before.”

He added: “Dance is how we came together and is what glues us together.

“We’re still the best of friends – we still have a lot of love and respect for each other.

“What we’ve found is that since we’ve been honest with each other it’s unlocked our creativity.”

Karen chipped in: “We have such strong chemistry and it’s about entertaining and inspiring. At the end of the day it’s about giving back to fans. We’re feeling very positive.”

Following Brendan Cole’s Strictly Come Dancing axe, Kevin and Karen revealed they haven’t been asked back either, but insisted there’s nothing to worry about.

Kevin explained: “We don’t know [if we’re retuning] yet. We get told a bit later on in the year.

He went on: “I hope so we both love the show so much. If they ask us back we’d both be delighted to come back.”

Despite their split, Karen and Kevin will still be proceeding with their joint tour, which kicks off in May.

Kevin first hinted at their martial woes last November, when he was eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing with his partner Susan Calman.

During his farewell speech, Kevin apologised to Karen and thanked her for “putting up with him”.

“When ‘Strictly’ is on I’m not the easiest person to live with, I go a bit mad so I’d like to say first of all thanks to my wife for putting up with me,” he said.

Later, Karen admitted that their marriage needed “work”.

“We’re just a regular couple,” she told The Sun. “We’ve been together for seven years and like any other relationship you have your ups and downs and nothing is ever perfect so you make it work.”

Though, she insisted that “everything is fine”.

She continued: “It adds a little bit of spark to the relationship and it just means that we care about each other.

“We just need to keep pushing and relationships take work, it’s not as easy as you think, especially being in a job like Strictly.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
