Two letters in Cardiff and Liverpool’s windows have mysteriously changed into two eyes.
Although there’s still no sign of the television advert, a new Twitter account under the name of @UnderTheBed2017 popped up a couple of days ago.
The profile has no official affiliation to John Lewis, but fans flocked in their thousands to the four-second clip of some eyes looking around, believing it to be the first clue at what to expect.
Now, with the retailer appearing to change its branding, it not only suggests that #UnderTheBed is the official ad, but it also hints that it will be hitting screens soon.
An official air date has not yet been confirmed, but many think that it will debut on November 10, following in the steps of last year’s offering of Buster the Boxer.
However, with 2015’s Man on the Moon showing on November 6 and 2014’s Monty the Penguin on the following day, it seems that the highly anticipated advert could land at any moment.
Little is known of the exact contents, but an insider told OK! Magazine that the team are aiming to do something “like they’ve never done before”.
They added: “It will be a million miles away from Buster the Boxer… revolv[ing] around a big cuddly monster. If you can imagine a cross between the Gruffalo and a huge cute teddy bear, that’s the angle they’ve gone for.”
Sky Cinema, Aldi and M&S have all released their Christmas adverts, and Morrisons was the most recent to bring some festive cheer with their tale of sibling love.
