Earlier in the week, Megan Barton Hanson hit headlines when she called out Dancing On Ice professional, Vanessa Bauer.
She claimed the skater had “tactfully” broken up with her boyfriend in a bid to get closer to her fellow Love Island star and boyfriend, Wes Nelson.
Megan posted a selfie, which has now been deleted, on her Instagram story and captioned it: @vanessabauer_skates love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of the 1st performance with my boyfriend!”
She continued to her 1.8 million followers: “You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night and you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL hope the tactical breakup got you the headlines you wanted babe.”(sic)
Since then, Megan faced a barrage of backlash and tried to clear up what had happened on Loose Women earlier today.
But she came to blows with Jane Moore, who tried to get to the bottom of the drama.
Megan defended: “I was just really hurt and it was the first time he’d skated, he got the best score of the night and it was taken away from him.
“All the headlines were on me looking like a jealous ex – I felt like I was fighting a losing battle.”
Jane asked if Megan had tried to go out to watch the pair rehearse, but the Love Island star insisted Vanessa hadn’t invite her.
“She’s just his professional skating partner,” Jane said.
The Loose Woman seemed particularly confused by that point and wanted to know why it was down to Vanessa to get in touch.
Megan said: “He has multiple times but I feel as a woman she should reach out to me.
“In Strictly they all meet the partners,” she went on.
But Jane thought there wasn’t enough of an effort made on Megan’s part to discuss any concerns with Vanessa, adding how the “onus” was on Wes to invite his girlfriend to the rink.
She added: “Why didn’t you just go?”
Megan swiped: “As a woman she should have reached out to me. I didn’t want him to think I was the passive girlfriend going down the rink.”
Vanessa has remained quiet on the matter, choosing only to share a cryptic post to her 70,800 Instagram followers.
Two days ago, she captioned a skating shot: “Because whenever I’m on the ice everything is good again. I’m so grateful for yesterday’s voting window number.
“There is nothing in the world I am more passionate about and that makes me happier than figure skating!
“Last night’s number was an absolute dream. I can’t thank everybody enough for all the love and support #strongwoman #DancingOnIce#womenempowerment.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV from 12.30 and Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
