ITV Good Morning Britain: Richard Madeley slammed by viewers over ‘car-crash’ interview

The pair probed actress Zoe Perry, 33, on the cancellation of American sitcom Roseanne today.

Zoe appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss her role in comedy programme Young Sheldon when the shows hosts turned the line of questioning round to talk about Roseanne.

Her mother Laurie Metcalf, 62, was a cast member on the revival of the iconic programme but it was announced yesterday the show had been cancelled.

It came after the lead actress Roseanne Barr had made offensive comments on Twitter.

The pair asked Zoe for her opinions on the actress and the show

However, Zoe didn’t appear to know what to say and confessed she hadn’t spoken with her mother since the news broke.

She did however comment on some of the conversations surrounding the news.

“I know some people have made some public statements, I mean yes no-one would support a statement like that,” Zoe began.

“But now I just hope, for everyone involved especially, that crew, that they can find work,” She concluded.

Ranvir then asked: “But Rosanne’s career is very clearly over?”

“You’d have to agree with that – there’s no coming back from something like that?” Richard confirmed.

Nervously laughing her way through the answer, and struggling with what to say next, Zoe said: “I would imagine not, I don’t know.”

Those watching at home appeared to find the moment particularly cringe-worthy and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: :#gmb Out of order putting that lady from young Sheldon on the spot about Rosanne. She isn’t in to talk about that. Poor lady looked very awkward.”

“That was awkward #GMB,” another stated.

“Oh god this is a car crash. #GMB,” a third added.

A fourth questioned: “@GMB why did you grill that woman on something that has nothing to do with her!? She’s not her mother. That was so uncomfortable to watch. #GMB.”

This awkward interview comes after only yesterday Richard Madeley terminated a live interview with the Defence Secretary.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
